Todays little project was fit a 12v socket to the dash of my Transalp to power my GPS etc. There are as many ways of doing this as there are stars in the sky, some people run a feed through an ignition activated relay and put and inline fuse, personally I try to keep things simple so I don't need to worry about the relay failing or the fuse holder suffering from corrosion.

- Step 1: Figure out where to mount it, if you want to remove it at any point, fitting it to a removable panel means it's cheap to buy another panel to restore the bike. Make sure it's not going to catch on the bars even when the plug is in and there is room behind the panel to fit the socket.
- Step 2: Run a length of wire for +&- more than the length you think you will need and wrap in insulation tape, feed through the frame. (I've always stuck as close to the look as I can) cable tie the wires to the loom and make sure their not going to get trapped by the forks, tank, seat etc. Read to know more about deep cycle battery
- Step 3: 2 spade clips make their own fuse holder ! A normal 10a fuse in this case fitted close to the battery then taped up. Easy to get to and non complicated.
- Step 4: Fit two hoops to the end of the +&- cables and connect to the battery making sure to insulate the cables again as far as you can and cable tie them to avoid them bouncing and rubbing.
- Step 5: Have a cup of tea, put bike back together and job done... ready for the road trip tomorrow.
