"We can teach people how to hear God and have their questions and longing answered by Him, or we can give people all the answers and take away their need for a relationship with Holy Spirit. False teachers think they have all the answers, which consequently causes people to stop searching for the depths of God. It's the Spirit that leads us into all Truth." ~ KrisVallotton
This really made me think and reexamine what it is I am hoping to see happen through Teaching the Word (Preaching the Gospel). I've always held to the belief that Teachers (all Five-Fold Ministry Gifts for that matter), are to lead people into an experience with the Living God (for themselves), Teaching them not to be necessarily dependent upon us, but instead how to be taught by Holy Spirit.
Mind you it always good to seek out godly counsel and direction, but ultimately, we need to get a revelation of the Word for ourselves. You'll find, at least I did, that it is hard (if not impossible) in times of great struggle, when life throws those curve balls as it does, to stand on what Pastor believes (his revelation and convictions, that is, if they are not yet our own).
We should be taking what we hear taught and preached, and first testing it (search it out in the Word ourselves), then asking God to give us a revelation of it for ourselves. You'll find (again as I did), it is much easier to stand upon your own convictions when tough times come a knocking, then to try and recall what Pastor said 5 Sundays ago about the situation you're facing.
Food for thought
